Floral Fantasy

You will need, 1 pack of resin beads, 1 sieve 1", 1 brooch back , 1 wrap of 30gauge wire, 1 1/2 metre metallic mesh ribbon, (assortment of seed beads in size 11 and 14 from your own stash)

This project is done in black, grey, silver, but you can choose any colour way

total cost of this project is £ 9.00

Begin by wiring a selection of resin flowers and leaves onto a 25mm sieve base, using 30g wire. For this type of design I like to start slightly of centre and work the outer edges first, then fill inwards, rather like a flower arrangement, outline first then central focal points. There is no right or wrong way, everyone finds the method that suits them best. Use the sieve as though it was a piece of fabric, start by going through a couple of holes, like doing a back stitch, leaving a little tail, then thread on the flower or leaf , and go back through the sieve,  just work in and out of the holes, adding things as you go. To finish of a length of wire simply twist with the starter tail. To give flowers or leaves a bit of height thread on one or two seed beads first before threading on the focal bead you are using. If you find a flower or leave is not lying the way you want, try putting a bead near it to act as a support. I do recommend using short lengths of wire, about 20cm is fine, anything longer, will weaken the wire through constant use.. Try to keep the back neat, as to much bulk will prevent the back from lying flat.

Take the three 1/2mtr lengths of metallic mesh ribbon, and fold them into a bow, using a short length of wire, twist in the middle to hold in place, place the ribbon bow at the back of the sieve, push the wire through the sieve and back again a few times to secure in place.

To make the dangles, thread on beads of your choice onto the ribbon ends, and then knot the ends to hold the bead in place, try to have all the ends at different lengths.

.
To finish of either attach the sieve disc onto the sieve, by folding the prongs over using pliers onto the sieve, or glue on a piece of suede or leather, allow to dry then wire or glue on, a brooch back pin. If using the disc you may wish for added security put a small dab of epoxy or super glue onto the disc.
Finally pull out the mesh ribbon to style the brooch.
